Mouse Kovacs Re-Called to US Women's National Team Camp

Congratulations to Michaela "Mouse" Kovacs on being called up for the U19 Women's National Team camp in California in July.

Mouse attended her first USWNT camp earlier this spring and has been called back for a second time this summer. 

Mouse will be heading to Regionals this weekend with her U18 Girls team and then going on to play at Michigan State University this fall.

Midwest United Summer Fitness Program

Tony Deakin will be holding Midwest United FC’s first Summer Fitness Training Program.

Tony is a member of our full-time coaching staff and has worked with our club since 2013.  

He is a NASM Certified Personal trainer and has a BTEC National Diploma in Sports Science from the UK.

Tony believes fitness is a key component to success in soccer and has designed a soccer-specific training program to help with player development this summer.  

The program will be for players of any age and fitness level and is designed to help improve speed, strength, endurance, balance and flexibility, as well as prepare players for their upcoming seasons.  

The program will run twice-weekly, for 6 weeks, from Monday, June 29 to Wednesday August 5.

The soccer-specific fitness training sessions will consist of 45 minutes of SAQ (Speed, Agility, and Quickness), Strength Training, and High Intensity Interval Training, combined with 15 minutes of stretching and foam rolling techniques to help with injury prevention.  

Foam rolling is a self-myofascial release (SMR) technique that is used by athletes, physical trainers, and therapists to release muscle tightness. By applying pressure to specific points on your body you are able to aid in the recovery of muscles and assist in returning them to normal function. Once players are educated on correct techniques they will be able to foam roll before and after training/games to help speed up recovery, improve their range of motion, and prevent injury.   

The program fee is $150 for 12 training sessions and each player will receive a foam roller to keep.

Training will be held at MVP Sports Spot on Mondays and Wednesdays and the training dates are June 29th, July 1st, 6th, 8th, 13th, 15th, 20th, 22nd, 27th, 29th, August 3rd, 5th.

Age groups and training times:  3pm - 4pm (U8 - U10), 4pm - 5pm (U11 - U13), 5pm - 6pm (U14 - U15), 6pm - 7pm (U16 - College players).    

The program will have a limited number of spaces with a maximum of 30 players per age group. So if you are interested get signed up early before spots get filled.
