Her current club coach Josh Sheldon praised her commitment to the team and her work rate over the past few years as part of her success: “It is a great decision for Alexis who has been a big part of our team’s journey over the last few years. She is a very hard working and committed player who works hard on her game and can play a number of positions effectively. Congratulations to Elise Royer on committing to play soccer at Dallas Baptist University in the fall of 2015.
Elise is currently a part of our U17 Girls Gold team that won State Cup this fall and has made the decision to continue her studies in Texas.
Elise’s decision caps off what has been a great 12 months for the junior, in which she led her Grandville High School team to a D1 state final, joined the Crew and won our first State Championship.
Elise will next be in action for Crew this summer at regionals with her U17 Gold team in Dayton, Ohio.
She will be joining the Patriots who play their NCAA D2 soccer in the Heartland Conference. Elise will be joining DBU’s nursing program and will enter into a dual study program with Baylor University.
Congratulations and good luck Elise from all at the Grand Rapids Crew Juniors.
Brittany Tanner Commits to MSU for Fall of 2015
Brittany Tanner has verbally committed to play soccer at Michigan State University starting in the fall of 2015.
Brittany currently plays on our U17 Girls Gold team and has had great success playing with her team in the USYS National League and around the ODP program in recent years. Tanner has played for Crew for several years now.
GR Crew Juniors Girls Director of Coaching Lewis Robinson thinks she has earned her great opportunities. He says, “Brittany is a great example of what a top Crew player should be; she has fantastic strengths in her tactical awareness as a forward, her power and strength to hold the ball, a great eye for the goal, and a passion for the game to improve and continue working hard. She is a very coachable player that is a pleasure to work with; she looks to play and train every day and is always looking to improve her game. These strengths have taken her to be one of the top forwards in the country and I have no doubt she will continue to improve and be very successful at MSU."
GR Crew Juniors Director of Coaching (Tanner’s current club coach) Josh Sheldon also praised the forward; “Brittany is a player that can change a game at any moment and will always have huge impacts on games. She works very hard to create opportunities and is a great player to have on any team. She will be a constant threat for the Spartans and is a player we are very proud of here at the Crew”.
Brittany sat out the fall season recovering from knee surgery but made her comeback at the Disney Showcase and is already back training right now to be ready to play at the collegiate level.
You can see Brittany playing this summer for our Crew W20 team and also for her U17 Girls team at Regionals in Dayton, Ohio.
Congratulations, Brittany, from the Grand Rapids Crew Juniors soccer family!
