Club History

Even though our name is relatively new, the two clubs joining forces (GRASA/GVPSC) to establish the premier youth player development program in Major League Soccer along with the Columbus Crew are some of the oldest in West Michigan. GRASA (Grand Rapids Area Soccer Association) was founded in 1990 and was the first select youth club in the city.  GVPSC (Grand Valley Premier Soccer Club) was established in 1996 as Grand Valley Premier. It was the first -- and until 2005, the only -- premier club sponsored by the Grand Valley Soccer Association.

Both clubs have helped thousands of young men and women grow in the game – and in life – by providing exceptional training and playing opportunities. In the last decade, many of our players have used our clubs as a springboard to a successful high school and college careers. Examples of this would be The 2005 Michigan Player of the Year, Jake Stacy (GRASA/GVP and Forest Hills Central), and Kevin VandenBerg (GRASA/Georgetown Rangers/GVP and Hudsonville). Many of our players have earned college scholarships and other honors, while some of our alumni have gone on to play professionally.
