Rubina Verakone of the Girls U14 Gold MRL team is a member of the Girls ’95 Region 2 ODP team.  She recently had the unique experience of traveling with that team to Costa Rica.

"The ’95 Region 2 ODP team trip to Costa Rica is one I’m sure to remember. Our team participated in a tournament in which we played four other semi-professional Costa Rican women’s teams. We played hard throughout the tournament and were crowned with the championship (the first American team to win in that tournament). Not only did we play soccer, we also zip-lined through some of Costa Rica’s beautiful forests and viewed amazing landscape from above. We also had a privilege of spending some time at a children’s center where we donated school supplies and other items and spent time entertaining little kids. We all had to brush up on our Spanish. The trip was very educational as it taught us about the people and culture of Costa Rica. Going to Costa Rica was an overall amazing experience."
