Leo Garcia

Leo grew up in Mexico and played for many competitive soccer teams from his hometown thru out his childhood.  In college he played mainly as a center back, and his passion for the game was to deny as many goals as he could when he was on the field.  He moved to the Grand Rapids area in 1994 and continued to play locally. He started coaching his daughter’s team for the Kentwood Rec. Department and AYSO, and he also become the head coach for the Varsity Godfree Lee Boys Soccer team. Leo was also the Head Coach of many PASS teams over the years, coaching age groups ranging from U4 juniors all the way through U18. Leo is currently the Coordinator and President of the Hispanic Women’s League of Grand Rapids.

When Leo is not coaching soccer, he is playing it with the Men’s Hispanic Grand Rapids League, as he has for the past 9 years.

Those who know Leo know not to cross him, as he holds a mixed martial arts accomplishment! He has a black belt in Karate, was a Golden Gloves finalist on 2002, and holds an amateur kick boxing title!

Leo holds a degree in accounting from his college in Mexico - Rio Bravo, and is currently a crew foreman for a local construction company. He has three daughters and a new son. Two of his daughters are currently playing for Crew. Leo holds a "USSF D National" license in coaching and looking to further advance his license sometime soon in the near future.

Leo’s philosophy is simple.... "One of the greatest things that you can do as a coach in life is to make a difference in the life of a child/person both on and off the field." He loves coaching and has a passion for the game itself and developing great soccer players.
