Girls U12 Gold Win Michigan Challenge Cup
September 26, 2012
 |
The U12 Girls Gold start their quest on the 11v11 format with only 3 games under their belt, and the team decided to take on some very good teams at the Michigan Challenge Cup - playing up in the U13 D2 division.
They would meet some tough competition with their first game, facing a strong Canadian Team (Waterloo). This game would finish in a 0-0 tie. The second game would bring a determined U13 Canton team and the girls showed their smarts as individual players and as a team the Crew team beat them 1-0. The following day they would meet a team of our own age and our girls showed their superior talent by beating them 3-1.
This score would put them in to the finals to face one of our own Crew teams, the U13 Black team. It was a great, well played game by both teams but at the end the U-12 girls prevailed in a very close game 1-0 to take the championship.

Girls U12 Gold Take Crew Cup Championship
September 26, 2012
 |
With their first tournament out of the way and playing 11v11 again, the Girls U12 Gold would play this time their own age at the Crew Cup. They would play two Crew teams, USA Salas, and have a great rematch against Canton Celtic Black. And they would dominate the divsion by only allowing 2 goals all weekend long and scoring in the double digits. This second Championship would give the girls the confidence they needed to start their quest on the MSDSL league for the fall season. |
Girls U12 Gold Take Third Fall Championship at Force Tournament
September 26, 2012
 |
After a great start to the very challenging MSDSL League, the team decided to take on their last fall tournament in Detroit at the Force tournament. They played an age group up (U13) where the girls got what they were looking for, playing faster, bigger, and stronger teams. They were under constant high pressure the entire weekend. Once again, the team managed to adapt to the situations, playing brilliantly and beating each team by just a goal or two.
They played a U13 TNT Premiere team (W 1-0), a U13 Dexter Premiere team (2-0), and a U13 Toledo FC Premiere team (2-0). It was a very close rematch in the finals vs the Dexter Premier team. They were determined to take back the loss of the previous day to a younger team, they came strong and gave us the best game of the weekend. With the score tied at 1-1 at 10 min left, the Crew U12`s dug deep and managed to secure the championship match. With only 2 minutes left in the game, they placed a huge winning well deserved goal.
These girls have showed huge improvements in this small amount of time playing on the big field 11v11. Nothing can stop these girls, the sky is the limit, and the future holds a lot of great things to come for this team. Congratulations girls and keep it going.
